Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from the gang here at Wild Idaho Outfitters. With the storm moving across the west this day we do hope you find yourselves snuggled up next to a warm fire, hot cup of coffee or cocoa nearby, and are able to take a few quiet moments to reflect on all the blessings we individually and collectively share as Americans. I for one am grateful for this country. As we read about refugees trying to escape their country

No Horse Rides this Summer at Snowbird

Normally about this time each summer, we are announcing that the horses are coming to Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, but this year is different. Snowbird began a large scale construction project that will consume all of this summer and next so we won’t be offering rides again at Snowbird until summer 2017.

April is the Time to Apply for Trophy Species Bighorn Sheep, Moose and Mountain Goat

Beginning April 1 you can apply for what Idaho terms as “trophy species” including bighorn sheep, mountain goat and moose. As much as I disdain having to draw for any hunting opportunity, these 3 species are rare enough that it is impossible to maintain a healthy herd AND offer an over the counter opportunity, so they regulate through a drawing process. The beauty, and yes I did say beauty, of Idaho’s draw......

Idaho’s Spring Bear Season Officially Opens Today!

Although it has been a mild winter, it still seems like it has been a long one waiting for spring bear season to finally arrive here in Idaho! April 1 is the “official” opener for many of the backcountry units, but in normal years the bears are still comfortably snuggled in their winter beds under feet of snow.

Join Us in Reno at the Sheep Show

Wild Idaho Outfitters will be representing all Idaho Outfitters at the annual Sheep Show in Reno, Nevada on January 8-10, 2015. HAPPY NEW YEAR

What a terrific sight for the final day of 2014. As sun sets over the Pahsimeroi Mountains, part of the Lost River Range here in Central Idaho, 2014 only has a few hours left and the horses are enjoying the last rays of sunlight on a day that the high only reached to zero. It is a beautiful ending to an amazing year here at Wild Idaho Outfitters and we are very grateful for this past year and are already looking forward to some exciting new adventures to take place in 2015.

Merry Christmas

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas from “the gang” at Wild Idaho outfitters! It is always a pleasure to watch as the horses are turned out for their much deserved 6 month vacation. We hope this Christmas finds you enjoying rest and peace with family and or friends this Holiday season. Now that we are past the shortest day of the year, I know I look forward to the days getting longer and that snow turning to belly deep Timothy grass again and watching for the spring flowers to arrive.

Why Hunt Idaho?

Short answer. Because you can! Yup, that is the answer, because you can. As a sportsman/hunter first and an outfitter second, I cherish my opportunities to hunt out west and based on what I have discovered in my travels, reading the news and talking to hunters from all over the globe about hunting in “their” states, once again Idaho simply rises to the top as THE best place for an opportunity to hunt…bar none!
