Investing in Trail Work

Wild Idaho Outfitters invested some serious time, money and effort into trail work this summer. We hired a crew of four young men who worked long hours and cleared over 30 miles of trail in the “Frank” by cutting or moving 1,985 logs from the trails over a 4-week period. All this work was done with hand tools.

We are looking for summer help for Horse Rides at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Utah

Wild Idaho Outfitters is the horseback riding concessionaire at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. We are looking for qualified wranglers to give horseback rides at Snowbird. Duties would include, but are not limited to:

Show your support for kids with diabetes

Wild Idaho outfitters is proud to be supporting Camp Hodia, a youth camp program that supports children with type 1 diabetes. We are donating a 3 day 2 night Frank Church Wilderness experience to support their mission to provide camp sponsorships to kids with diabetes.

Don’t be a fooled this April 1st

April 1st is a very important day in the life of an Idaho hunter. It is the first day you can put in for trophy species bighorn sheep, moose and mountain goat as well as, my favorite day, the first day of the spring 2016 backcountry bear hunting season.

I for one am grateful for this country. As we read about refugees trying to escape their country

No Horse Rides this Summer at Snowbird

Snowbird began a large scale construction project that will consume all of this summer and next so we won’t be offering rides again at Snowbird until summer 2017.

April is the Time to Apply for Trophy Species Bighorn Sheep, Moose and Mountain Goat

Beginning April 1 you can apply for what Idaho terms as “trophy species” including bighorn sheep, mountain goat and moose. As much as I disdain having to draw for any hunting opportunity, these 3 species are rare enough that it is impossible to maintain a healthy herd AND offer an over the counter opportunity, so they regulate through a drawing process. The beauty, and yes I did say beauty, of Idaho’s draw......

Idaho’s Spring Bear Season Officially Opens Today!

Although it has been a mild winter, it still seems like it has been a long one waiting for spring bear season to finally arrive here in Idaho! April 1 is the “official” opener for many of the backcountry units, but in normal years the bears are still comfortably snuggled in their winter beds under feet of snow.
