15 April Help us Name our New Mules April 15, 2012By George McQuiston General Information 1 We have 2 new additions to the Wild Idaho and Flying J Outfitters team (actually we have more but these are the only 2 I have pictures of right now). Anyway, they came without names and it sure seems such a shame as they are great looking and nice mules. So, I am asking for your help in naming them. Now of course someone will get “paid” for the winning name(s). We will give a choice of an elk, deer or bear hat from Wild Idaho or Flying J Outfitters to the winner of the “name our ass” contest (those would be my wife’s words, I prefer mule). The bigger one is a John (mule speak for boy). The smaller is a Molly (mule speak for female). Names that are already disqualified are John, Molly, Jenny and Jack. It seems that every named mule in the world has one of those 4 names. They both came out of Texas and are ride and pack mules. I was going to name the boy mule Austin because it came from Texas and mules are known for being stubborn and some would say mules look a bit goofy (sorry Austin, I did say some). Then I groomed and rode him and realized how nice he was so I told my wife I should name him George because he is so easy to get along with and he is quite pleasant to look at. She laughed. I can only assume she agrees with me. Requirements for names are that they either fit the animal or have a great story. Personally, I like really girly names for female creatures, like Buttercup, Daffodil, Daisy…you know girl names like Latisha, Shaniqua, Shanaynay…you know girl names….Maria, Consuela, Bonita.…even names like Svetlana or whatever the name is of that lonely Russian girl who emails me every day. I do wish she could find a date, poor thing. Anyway, I think you get the picture. So, throw out some names and tell your friends because the name with the most “likes” wins. Also, the first person to suggest the chosen names wins a hat. We will probably have a drawing for everyone who “likes” those names and give away another hat, too. http://www.facebook.com/WildIdahoOutfitters Visit us on Facebook and help us name our new mules. Pretty pink, pretty blue, purple, orange, yellow, tan, chocolate, etc. does it really matter what the name is for bears to like it? The answer is obviously a resounding NO! If it is full of sugar and by default calories, bears are gonna love it and you will have success with this or almost anything edible as bear bait. The main questions in my mind are A) can I get enough of it in a consistent supply, B) can I even afford to feed it to bears and C) how do I keep from producing world record sized squirrels on my Granola, Trail mix, Honey Roasted Nut formula I am currently using?
