Horses need shod, bear bait moved to the backcountry, camps prepped, and wood socked in for the upcoming official opener of Idaho’s 2021 spring bear season. Although we have been in backcountry often this spring with Mountain Lion hunts and wolf trapping, it seems it takes a bit of the snow melting and warmer days to really “light a fire” and boy has it been lit! Kelly is prepping Darling Creek colts to pack bait, the phone keeps ringing with bear bait sales and our calendar is full of hunters coming in for a new Idaho spring bear season in “the Frank”. We look forward to it every year, but this year seems extra special with the world having been so cooped up for the past year, this spring just seems a little brighter and we are looking forward to meeting our new guests while we welcome our returning hunters! Week 2 saw Colby Downs from Louisiana shoot a geriatric bear (can't wait to find out the age on this one) Then the RMEF gang from Bowling Green, Kentucky scored on 2 very nice boars before heading home. Spring Bear Season is Almost Here and There are a Few Spots Left Bookings for this years 2014 spring bear season have been brisk and we are grateful that so many hunters are putting their faith and hunting dollars in us and Idaho. That being said, we have just a few more spots left for this spring 2014 Idaho spring bear season. Spring Scouting for Elk Hunting Success Spring is one of the best times of year to get out in the mountains and scout new areas for the upcoming elk season, which won’t arrive yet for another 5 – 6 months. The air is fresh and invigorating, and as the snow melts it exposes game sign from the previous fall that has been preserved in a deep freeze all winter. Game trails, wallows, rubs, and even some tracks still appear fresh. Time to start the application game with spring bear first on the agenda Now that the madness of 2020 is over, it is time to look ahead to 2021 Idaho hunting seasons and it seems the first of many “seasons” to come is application season. Idaho spring bear application season just opened and runs through February 15. You can apply online or at an Idaho Fish and Game license vendor in person. Wild Idaho’s Spring Bear Season OFFICIALLY Arrives! It can only mean one thing when we are hauling hay, chained up in the old Dodge over high mountain passes, shoeing horses at the trailhead and crossing rising rivers, all in the same day! Spring Bear Drop Camps With Idaho’s 2022 spring bear season beginning in a few short weeks, we are grateful that we are almost fully booked for our guided hunts, but we still have availability for spring drop camps for those DIY hunters who to prefer the challenge of hunting on their own and more of the spot and stalk element of bear hunting.
