31 December HAPPY NEW YEAR December 31, 2014By George McQuiston Announcements, General Information 0 What a terrific sight for the final day of 2014. As sun sets over the Pahsimeroi Mountains, part of the Lost River Range here in Central Idaho, 2014 only has a few hours left and the horses are enjoying the last rays of sunlight on a day that the high only reached to zero. It is a beautiful ending to an amazing year here at Wild Idaho Outfitters and we are very grateful for this past year and are already looking forward to some exciting new adventures to take place in 2015. We met a lot of wonderful people, many we consider friends, and we look forward to personally meeting those who have already booked with us for 2015 and those we hope still plan to. I know you have heard me say it before, but it is so true it bears repeating; Idaho is the best kept secret out there in the hunting world! With over the counter tags, combo hunt possibilities, 2 bear areas, wolf hunting and the best youth hunting program around, Idaho hunting just can’t be beat. We genuinely hope that if you are planning an out of state hunt for 2015, you will consider spending some time here in the Gem State, whether with us, another outfitter or even a DIY hunt, Idaho should definitely be on your “to consider for a 2015 hunt” list. Bookings are already looking strong for 2015 and several spring bear hunt weeks are already sold out. So if you were thinking a spring bear hunt might be on the horizon, please give us a call. If you plan on heading out for any hunting or trapping this weekend, please remember to stop in or go online and purchase your 2015 hunting permit. Even if you are only hunting coyotes, a hunting license is required here in Idaho. Speaking of which non-resident licenses and tags went on sale December 1 for all 2015 hunting and fishing seasons. Now with 2015 here, it is necessary. Happy New Year! Make it a great one and remember to take a kid hunting and fishing in 2015! Related Posts Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! From the gang here at Wild Idaho Outfitters, nestled snuggly under the peaks of the Southeastern edge of the Salmon River Mountains, one of the gateways to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area, we want to take a moment and wish all who read this a very Happy and Joyful Holiday Season! “Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Me” or “Preseason Hunt Planning Part 1!” Even though this sounds directed to me and possibly self-serving, it is anything but that. If it were about me, I would be posing on this rig taking a big smiling selfie to tell the world how wonderful I am. Well, I assure you, there ain’t nothin’ sexy about a 54 year old chubby guy climbing up on his new elliptical trying to shed a few of those post hunting, pre- and post-Holiday calories, so all you get to see is an empty elliptical as a symbol of potential for memories to be made. Just like our public lands stand as a symbol to that same ideal. It is honestly directed towards all of us who find ourselves somewhat vertically challenged and girth blessed with each New Year’s Day that passes and wonder if we are alone in this journey from “healthy” holiday sofa surfer to healthy mountain man/explorer looking to scale that peak ahead to look for a trophy animal on the other side. Happy New Year! As we close the door on 2012…and fortunately for all of us the Mayans appeared to be wrong, We really want to say a big thanks to those who hunted with us! We enjoyed each and everyone of you. We are glad so many youth hunters made it into the woods this year with there Dad’s and at times extended family and friends. Happy New Year 2020 As we say goodbye to 2019, we hope that your year is ending on a positive note. Ours is because of the new friends we made and the old friends we got to see again in hunting camps, and we look forward to seeing again come spring or fall 2020. We hope that your holidays have been blessed with good times, good friends, good food and making good memories. Happy Thanksgiving 2018 from Wild Idaho Outfitters As the sun just set on the final day of our 2018 Idaho elk and deer hunting season, it turns out we drop right back into another “season”: The Holiday Season! With the first, of course, being Thanksgiving. I personally am glad that Thanksgiving falls when it does this year as it leaves no time for PHD (post hunting depression) to set in. Instead, it is a time to reflect on this past year and all the many incredible blessings we have in our lives. I have said it before and it bears repeating, the best part of our job is the people we get to meet. That wasn’t supposed to happen aka Happy Late Thanksgiving Man, I hate technology! Okay, I do appreciate my heated seats and steering wheel in the Ram pickup when the temps reach single digits, but it sure is frustrating when you have been on the mountain for 3 months and finally make it home only to find out your email server has been down for the last week and there is no remedy in sight.
